🦊 Hello, London Summer.

Morning, London! Happy Thursday. Summer’s officially here. London’s buzzing, and everything smells faintly of sunscreen and bin juice. Some schools are staggering toward the finish line next week, while others have a few more weeks of packed lunches and PE kit dramas to survive. Kids are plotting water fights and lie-ins. Parents are bracing for six weeks of snack negotiations and lost Crocs. London parents, we’re a breed apart. 😎
There’s talk of yet another heatwave around the corner, so get those trendy water bottles ready. I’ve yet to visit any of the so-called London beaches this year (check last week’s issue if you missed it) but I hear Costa del Croydon is gearing up for an August debut. May your SPF be strong and your patience stronger.
All in all, peak London summer is just getting started. Lidos, pop-ups, street festivals, and your yearly reminder that yes, the Tube can and will melt. Stay hydrated and have fun out there.

. LONDON SNIPPETS .
Bits that caught our eye

🐘 Puppet Stampede Incoming. This weekend, London gets The Herds, a massive migration of life-sized puppet animals stampeding in from the Congo on their way to the Arctic. Elephants, lions, giraffes and more, all made from recycled materials. Miss it and you’ll be kicking yourself all the way to Manchester. Full story
🦕 150 Million Years Young. The Natural History Museum just unveiled a brand new dino: Enigmacursor Mollyborthwickae (try saying that with your mouth full of raisins). It’s small, speedy, and actually made of real prehistoric bones, not just the usual museum copy-paste. On permanent display from today, so go pay your respects to the new kid in fossils. Full story
👑 Shiny New Bridge. A new Queen Elizabeth II memorial is coming to St James’s Park, complete with statues of Her Maj and Prince Philip, and a translucent glass bridge inspired by her wedding tiara. Designed by Lord Foster, the modernist who once butted heads with King Charles, it’s a “light touch” tribute with some seriously regal shimmer. Full story

. CASUAL EINSTEIN .
2 for 1: Wow your kid, and outsmart the other parents
Fun Fact: A potato can power a light bulb. Stick a copper and zinc electrode into a spud, and its natural acids will help conduct electricity. One potato won’t light your home, but string a few together and you’ve got yourself a small LED-powered science experiment. Veggie magic. 🥔💡
London Fact: In Dulwich Park, there’s a tiny, colourful post-box hidden at the base of a tree where kids can leave letters for fairies, elves, or even Father Christmas. It’s maintained by the park, and yes, letters have been known to get replies. Proof that in South London, the postal system extends to the magical realm. No stamps required. 📮🧚
