🦊 Just checking in..

Morning, London! Happy Thursday. Morning, London! Happy Thursday. I’m on the road this week with very limited signal, clinging to the faint Wi-Fi beam of a passing star, but I still managed to beam out a Scoop.

Thanks for all the lovely messages about last week’s 40th edition. Very chuffed. Suns seem to be shining back home, and I imagine most of you are juggling summer camps, visiting family, or just trying to remember what day it is.

This week’s a light version, but all the usual sections will be back next week, in full London glory.

Let’s get into it.

. LONDON SNIPPETS .
Bits that caught our eye

The editor-in-chief of the news snippets (that’s me) is out this week, and the intern isn’t quite funny enough to take the wheel. So rather than risk it, we’re skipping straight to the What’s On section. Normal service resumes next week.

. CASUAL EINSTEIN .
2 for 1: Wow your kid, and outsmart the other parents

Fun Fact: Humans are the only animals with chins. 🧔🦴 Other creatures have jaws, sure, but that little bump of bone below your mouth? Purely human. Scientists still aren’t sure why we have them. Possibly chewing. Possibly flirting. Possibly both.

London Fact: The London Eye moves so slowly it doesn’t legally count as a ride. 🎡 At 0.9 km/h, it turns just fast enough to enjoy the view and slow enough that you can walk on and off without stopping. It’s London’s smoothest queue.

. TIME TRAVEL .
Would You Survive the Swap?

Last week we asked: What would be harder? a modern-day person adapting to medieval life or a medieval peasant trying to survive modern life?

It was close, but 58.7% think we’d have the tougher time going back. Apparently the lack of antibiotics, running water and Pret is a dealbreaker.

Thanks to everyone who voted and argued passionately about oat milk versus chamber pots. Next time you get together with a bunch of school parents, ask this around and ignite some discussion. It gets weird quickly.

. EVENTS SCOOP .
